ballCool news from the National Gardening Research Center – three out of four American households are picking up the trowel and plunging in. Over 90 million households did lawn and/or garden related projects last year and 6 million of them were doing it for the first time.

During the economic recession, gardening as a pastime did not dwindle (most of us would assume it naturally ticked up), but in 2015, the average amount spent on garden related products per household went from $317 in 2014 to $401.

Now, hopefully that represents purchases on seeds and tools instead of a new suite for the patio, but hey, it shows an interest, right?

However we’re doing it and wherever we’re doing it, we’re doing it.  Encourage others around you to do it too.

Finally, a noble use for peer pressure.
