I’ve travelled for many years for my writing and speaking career; but two years ago I began offering small, very special group tours as my schedule & garden allows. In 2025 I made it official and founded HortCultural.
The name is intentional. In partnership with Andrea Gasper of Inspired Escapes, I have made it my mission to step beyond the ordinary garden tour and engage our guests in both the cultural and horticultural life of each region we visit.
These are heavily curated itineraries, hand-picked hotels, and exceptional experiences that not only reflect the unique fingerprint of a specific region, but allow me to indulge my love of entertaining, and Andrea’s love of planning.

From the moment you start your day, to the second your head hits the pillow each night, you are immersed — whether you’re staying in a breathtaking estate surrounded by a historic garden, or in the middle of a bustling iconic city.
The best gardens make us think, and not only about design. Some are time capsules, allowing us to experience a different era. Others are fantastical, and tickle the child within us. Still others are contemplative or startling.
Watching guests learn about world-class gardens through the words of their owners and head gardeners is one of my very favorite parts of our trips. As a result of my career in garden media and as a member of The Garden Media Guild (UK) and GardenComm (US), I am often able to arrange private tours and visits that might otherwise be impossible.
You won’t find 40-person whirlwind tours at HortCultural. And where small garden group tours usually accommodate up to 25 guests, our trips are for groups of 16-18 to allow us to take advantage of special hotels & experiences. We want to get to know you by name, and create a lasting relationship that may span many shared adventures in the years ahead.
From porterage to tips, to a turned down bed at the end of a busy day, you can relax and let us take care of the details.
